The Organ Library is a repository of music written or transcribed for the pipe organ, as well as books pertaining to the history of organ music and organ performance. It includes the archives and papers of notable concert organists.

Arthur Howes

Arthur HowesArthur Howes (1907-1983) had a long career as recitalist, author, and Chair of the Organ Department at Peabody Conservatory. He consulted on the design of many organs and was one of the first to lead postwar tours of historic European organs.American Guild of Organists certificate

After Mr. Howes’s death, his daughter donated his papers, as well as an extensive library of books and music, to the Organ Library.
